Cultural Area

People: 12-15 volunteers & 1 Team Captain Responsibilities: To organize and run the Cultural Area for the festival weekend, including food, crafts and any other activities that will be taking place. Read More

Environment

People: 12-15 volunteers, 1 team captain Responsibilities: To ensure that the festival site is kept clean and that garbage and recyclables are placed in proper receptacles. In addition, the team is responsible for making sure that the festival site is clean after the festival. Read More

People: 18-20 volunteers, 1-2 Team Captains Responsibilities: To provide on-time and efficient transportation to performers from their accommodations to the festival site and back over the festival weekend, to various events before the festival weekend, and to and from the airport when they arrive in, and depart from, Yellowknife. Rock the Folks

Rock the Folks is the youth Battle of the Bands that takes place at the Folk on the Rocks site on the Thursday before the festival. Volunteers will be responsible for security at the event. Read More

Rovers & PLU

People: 24 volunteers & 1-2 Team Captains Responsibilities: Ensure that all performer equipment is stored accurately, and that equipment is delivered to stages on time for all performances. Read More

People: 30 volunteers, 1-2 team captains Responsibilities: To ensure that the festival site is safe and secure, that all festival rules are being followed, that all patrons at the festival have appropriate wristbands, and that any confrontations on site are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Also, to make sure that vehicles in the parking lot are parking safely and without blocking anyone in. Read More

Site Crew

The Site Crew is responsible for maintaining and repairing anything on the Folk on the Rocks site, as well as doing all of the on-site preparatory work that must be done before every festival. This job, by nature, changes every year, as new projects are begun and old ones completed. The Site Manager will be responsible for identifying which projects need to be done, and the Assistant Site Manager will be in charge of organizing volunteer work crews and leading the projects which cannot be completed by one person. Ticket Sales

People: 14 Volunteers & 1 Team Captain Responsibilities: Ensure that everyone who enters the festival site is sold a ticket and given the correct wristband. Read More

Volunteer Headquarters

Volunteer Headquarters is the first point of contact with volunteers on the weekend of the festival. Volunteers stop in VHQ to sign in and pick up their t-shirts and wristbands, and this is also where they can pick up cell phones and radios, leave anything they need to leave, and find any information about the festival that they may need. Volunteers will need to be on duty from about 10am until 10pm to allow people to sign in. Read More

Warm the Rocks

People: 6 volunteers (2 per venue) and 1 Team Captain Responsibilities: To collect cover charge from all patrons entering the Warm the Rocks venues, and to assist any patrons with questions about the festival in general. Read More
