Join our Selections Committee and help select artists!

Folk On The Rocks prides itself on creating the most diverse and enjoyable music experience for festival-goers each year. In order for us to achieve our goals, the Folk On The Rocks Society Selections Committee supports the Executive Producer in their efforts to secure performers for the Festival each year.

Chaired by Board Member Andrew Livingstone, the Selections Committee has the daunting task of sitting down and looking at hundreds of artists and determining what will make for the best possible festival. It’s important for the Committee to look at the selections process through a visionary lens that takes into account the need to create a line up that provides the best bang for the buck, while ensuring diverse musical representation that reflects the listening interests of attendees.

The Selections Committee is seeking three members of the general public (two adults and one youth under the age of 25) to join the committee for the 2016-2017 year to help polish the work already begun on the 2017 festival and to begin preparing for the 2018 festival. Our goal is to make the Selections Committee a full year commitment that will see it provide input and guidance for not just the upcoming festival, but the following year as well.

If you are interested, please e-mail Committee Chair Andrew Livingstone at to confirm your interest. Please be sure tell us about yourself, and to answer the following questions that will help us gauge which candidates would best fit the vision of Folk On The Rocks and the Selections Committee and its processes.

  1. Please name your three favourite genres of music.

  1. What are the top five concerts you have been to in your life?

  1. What are five Canadian artists you are currently listening to?

  1. Name a festival you have been to and what you liked most about the composition of the line up. Was there anything you would have done differently to improve the composition?

Please apply by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28th, 2016 in order to be considered for a spot on the Committee.
