FOTR Welcomes Teresa Horosko as New Executive Director
Yellowknife – Folk On The Rocks (FOTR) is excited to introduce Teresa Horosko as the organization’s new Executive Director!
Having first joined the team in 2019 as the Volunteer Manager, Teresa has immersed herself in every aspect of the Festival, leading her into the Operations Manager role in 2022. She is now honoured and delighted to contribute to Folk On The Rocks and the community in her new role while still working closely with Carly McFadden, who will shift focus to guiding the festival’s creative vision as the Artistic Director.
Teresa Horosko is a driven and adaptable event professional with a proven track record of success in managing medium and large-scale community events, including music, literature, and film festivals and holiday parades.
Teresa states, “I am honoured and humbled to continue to be a part of Folk On The Rocks, now as Executive Director. In my time working in large-scale community events, I have never seen a festival with such dedicated and passionate community support. It is a privilege to be a part of the team that puts on this amazing festival, which extends past the confines of Board, Staff, and Volunteers and into the community. Additionally, I am excited to continue to work alongside Carly McFadden, whose contributions to the festival and live music as a whole are an inspiration. Together, we are going to continue to make FOTR magic happen!”
Carly is just as excited about the change as Teresa. Carly says,“Since 2016 I have had the honour and the privilege to serve as the Executive & Artistic Director at Folk On The Rocks. It is a job I have truly loved but I think it’s time for some fresh blood in this role and I know that Teresa Horosko is the perfect person for the job. I am looking forward to staying on the team as the Artistic Director, diving head-on into the creative parts of this role (my favourite part!), and having more time to focus on other projects I am involved in.”
Folk On The Rocks is lucky to have incredible staff and volunteers who make every festival memorable, and we’re thankful to have both Carly and Teresa on the team. Kayla Cooper, President of Folk On The Rocks, has worked with both Teresa and Carly on many FOTR festivals and is excited to see what the change will bring.
Kayla says, “The FOTR Board extends its heartfelt thanks to Carly for her amazing work and dedication over the past 9 festivals. Her leadership has been instrumental in our growth and success. At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Teresa into her new role as Executive Director. With her exceptional leadership and operational expertise, Teresa is the perfect fit to guide our organization forward. We are confident that these changes will strengthen our team and enhance our ability to achieve our mission.”
The Folk On The Rocks team is gearing up for another incredible festival with FOTR 2024 expected to be bigger and better than ever, featuring lots of incredible local talent.
